Liliya Tsoncheva Participates in CJEU Case C‑395/23 (Anikovi)
Attorney-at-law Liliya Tsoncheva participated in Case C‑395/23 (Anikovi) before the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), a pivotal decision on cross-border parental responsibility and international jurisdiction. The case addressed whether Bulgarian courts could authorize the sale of property owned by minors of Russian nationality living in Germany.
The CJEU ruled that jurisdiction generally lies with the courts of the Member State where the child is habitually resident and clarified how pre-accession treaties with third countries interact with EU law under Article 351 TFEU.
This landmark ruling highlights our lawyers’ expertise in EU law and cross-border civil matters, an area of growing importance given the increasing mobility of individuals across Member States.
